FREQUENTLY ASKED

The Method

Is this the 'Cry It Out' method?

No. Cry It Out (CIO) implies abandonment. The Jaja Method is about caloric management and controlled pauses. Yes, your baby will cry (it's their only language), but we never ignore them. We teach them.

When can I start?

Day one is ideal. The sooner you start, the easier it is. However, the method is extremely effective for any baby up to 6 months old. After 6 months, habits are harder to break, but the principles still apply.

Is it really possible in 8 weeks?

It's not just possible; it's the standard. If you follow the math and the schedule, physiology takes over. A well-fed baby who knows how to self-soothe will sleep through the night.

Feeding & Reflux

Does this work with breastfeeding?

Yes, but there is a catch: You cannot manage what you cannot measure. We strongly recommend putting your baby on the scale before and after breastfeeding or pumping so you know exactly how many ounces your baby is getting. Breastfeeding is beautiful, but 'snacking' destroys sleep.

My baby has bad reflux.

90% of what is diagnosed as 'reflux' is actually overfeeding or feeding too frequently. The stomach never empties, causing acid. Our schedule spaces feeds out, allowing digestion to happen. The reflux usually vanishes within days.

Should I wake my baby to eat?

During the day? Yes. You must get their calories in during daylight hours. At night? Never. If they are sleeping, let them sleep. That is the goal.

Sleep Training

What about the 4-month sleep regression?

Regressions are for parents who don't have a plan. If your baby has the skill of self-soothing and is calorically dense during the day, the 'regression' is a myth. You might have one bad night, not a bad month.

Can I use a pacifier?

Yes, the pacifier is a tool, not a crutch. We use it to help soothe during the 'Pause', but the goal is for them to not need it to connect sleep cycles.

Twins & Special Cases

Does this work for twins/triplets?

This method is the only way to survive multiples. You must sync their schedules immediately. If one wakes to eat, you wake the other. Do not become a short-order cook.

My baby is in daycare.

You control the mornings and the evenings. Daycare might mess up naps, but if you stick to the routine at home, the night sleep will remain intact.
